Service Manager

Weagant Farm Supplies (WFS), a family-owned business in Brockville is looking for a Service Manager: someone ready to manage and guide a team of 12-15 (admin & technicians) while overseeing operationsin our new 10,000 sq ft shop space.The Service Manager reports to the Store Manager/Owner and strives to offer industry leading service through top notch organization, business and communication skills. They manage situations tactfully and politely; the image of the company is directly impacted by all employee’s presentation and effort.

 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :

•    Manage, supervise & mentor staff and processes in the service department. 
•    Schedule and supervise activities of the shop to ensure productivity. 
•    Work closely with the Service Writer to supervise the detailed completion of work orders and excellent communication with customers. 
•    Close all work orders in an acceptable time frame, including warranty claims.
•    Supervise and approve warranty and goodwill claims and their respective procedures. 
•    Review, with the sales manager, used inventory to determine equipment refurbishing needs. 
•    Work with the ownership and Service Manager of our sister store to determine service specials, coordinate shop hours and trucking as needed.
•    Create training opportunities for all techs to learn new products and methods. •    Create and manage the technician on-call schedule.
•    Manage and schedule ongoing training of the team, both on-site and online.
•    Manage the maintenance of the WFS fleet of vehicles to ensure they meet government and corporate requirements.
•    Maintain communication with supplier technical representatives & update technical resources. •    Ensure government and corporate health and safety requirements are met in the department.
•    Motivate and support team spirit among the service team, liaising with HR as needed to support staff and departmental goals.

Requirements:

•    Management experience within the technical service industry: agricultural is ideal but automotive or related service, is considered.
•    Technical knowledge of agricultural equipment and ties to the farming community highly desired.
•    Computer savvy and able to learn & use industry-specific scheduling software.
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team to meet department objectives.
•    Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Ability to prioritize several demands at the same time.
•    Ability to work on your feet, or at your desk, for extended periods of time.
•    Personal transportation to and from work

Hours of Work:

8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday and 8:00am-12:00pm, every other Saturday

Agricultural Equipment Technician / Technician Apprentice  

Technicians report to the Service Manager and strive to offer industry leading service to our customers, whether in the shop or the field.

 

Responsibilities:

•    Perform diagnostic tests on engines and equipment
•    Repair and assemble equipment (mechanic, hydraulic, electrical, cooling, lubrication, etc.)
•    Record work performed and pass on such records in a timely manner
•    Double-check own work completed against original repair request for accuracy & completion
•    Identify additional deficiencies (if any) and bring them forward to consider repair
•    Test repaired equipment for proper performance
•    Keep work station neat and tidy
•    Maintain shop equipment
•    Mentor apprentice technicians as needed
•    Operate forklift – AFTER on-site training
•    Use electronic service tools with care 
•    Responsibly use company owned tools, reporting on any issues
•    Adhere to workplace safety policies, procedures and OHSA
•    Delivery of equipment when needed
•    Available participate in supplier on-line or on-site technical training programs.
•    All other duties as assigned in the course of a work day

 

Skills/Experience:

•    Licensed Technician or apprentice technician preferred (425a) 
•    Mechanically inclined with previous experience working with agricultural, heavy or equipment
•    Employee must be able to lift and move pieces of equipment within job context
•    Analytical and interested in solving customer problems
•    Independent and able to make corrective decisions while having a strong team ethic
•    Willingness to use digital work order software
•    Must have own set of tools and safety boots

Assembly and Yard Person

The Assembly & Yard Person reports to the Service Manager and helps with the goal of offering industry leading customer service through attention to detail and engagement with staff and customers.  This is an entry-level position with the company, with significant opportunity for growth.

 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :

This list is a guideline only and is not a complete list of responsibilities.

Duties as assigned by the Service Manager:
•    As per work order, pick new equipment to be assembled and put in the staging area.
•    Assemble and repair new and used equipment.  Computer time logs must be maintained.
•    Performing diagnostic tests on engines and equipment.
•    Local deliveries as directed, ensuring truck log books are updated.
•    Monitor service maintenance schedules on shop tools and equipment and repair as directed.
•    All other duties as assigned by the Service Manager.

Regular responsibilities assigned or not by the Service Manager:
•    Unload trucks, put equipment away after tagging.
•    Gather and haul cardboard to the recycling center as needed. 
•    Clean up skids and wood to prepare for pick up. 
•    Review of the yard to ensure machines are parked and organized in a professional manner, as per direction of the Owner or Sales Manager.
•    Constant review of the yard that the grass and building exterior is maintained and presentable.
•    Pressure and dry wash used equipment upon arrival and stock tag/QR code all new/used units.
•    Polish and clean new and used equipment prior to delivery.

Requirements:

•    Physical requirements: Able to lift and move pieces of equipment within job context, and work at full range of shoulder motion. Employee must be able to go under, over and within unit(s) being worked on, and be able to bend, pull, push, climb into and around equipment. Employee must be able to stand for most of the day.
•    Valid G-class driver’s license.
•    Fork lift certification is mandatory. Once certified the employee shall unload incoming trucks, verify packing slip accuracy, sign for the shipment and forward documents to the office.
•    Attendance at company electronic or in-person training is mandatory, as directed.
•    Able to perform repetitive tasks on a daily basis. Must be precise in action, analytical, be independent and able to make corrective decisions and consult as needed.
•    Own set of tools or willingness to begin acquiring a set at hire.

The employee must adhere to company standard safety practices and read and adhere to safety standards as detailed in assembly and operator manuals as supplied by all manufactures represented by Weagant Farm Supplies.
Basic knowledge of farm equipment and/or experience on a farm is a strong asset but not essential.  
 

Hours of Work:
